Apollo
Current Mount
Apollo is Tanya’s current equine partner who came into the partnership with an extensive and very successful show record from Training Level through to Prix St. George (PSG). He, and his previous partner, competed at the PSG level in 2019. Together they had scores in the 60’s, and were champions at 2 gold level shows. These championship scores earned Apollo 2 points towards his Sports Elite Predicate with FHANA. As a 4th Level horse, in 2018, he earned either Champion or Reserve Champion at the 4 shows he competed in. Apollo was also awarded the 2018 Equestrian Canada’s “4th Level Horse of the Year” and the CADORA 4th Level Champion. In 2016-2017, as a 3rd level horse, he was Champion at all competitions and Reserve Champion in the CADORA awards program. 2015 was a very successful year for Apollo as he took home numerous 2nd Level Championships, including the Freestyle Championship, and was awarded the very prestigious FHANA “Dressage Performance Award” and the CADORA 2nd Level award. Equestrian Canada awarded him the 2015 “Silver Horse and Rider” award and the “Lauren Dilanni Freestyle” award.
Together, Tanya and Apollo have been hard at work adding to Apollo’s already impressive resume. Their partnership over the last 2 years has earned them a spot on the Equestrian Canada Para Dressage National Team Program Talent ID Squad as of December 1, 2021. They have also earned themselves 2020 High point Championship (Class 7) for the Equestrian Canada Video Competition Series 2020 and Saskatchewan Provincial Para Dressage Champion in 2020 and 2021. This team competed throughout Alberta and Saskatchewan in the 2021 season and currently planning to head to Florida, Ontario and North Carolina to compete in the international dressage ring this winter and spring as they work to achieve their ultimate goal of qualify for the 2024 Paralympics in Paris France.

Erin McCormick
Coach
Erin McCormick is the proud coach of Tanya Shevchenko, Para-Dressage athlete. She owns and operates Equilibrium Therapeutic Riding Inc- a therapeutic horsemanship program for children and adults with disabilities in the Saskatoon and surrounding areas. Equilibrium Therapeutic Riding Inc is located 20 minutes north of Saskatoon and has a fully accessible indoor equestrian facility.
With a background in human services, a diploma in rehabilitation, and certifications with Equestrian Canada and the Canadian therapeutic riding association, Erin began offering therapeutic riding services in spring 2001. The facility at Equilibrium was constructed at the home of Scott and Erin McCormick in spring 2006.
Erin has served thousands of individuals with disabilities over the years and has 10’s of thousands of hours of instruction experience. She has spent the last 2 decades building a facility and string of school horses that she is proud of. Erin has witnessed miracles in riders such as first words and first steps among many other miraculous milestones. She has helped young riders through their childhood, youth and into adulthood and they continue to benefit from their participation both therapeutically and athletically.

Krystl Raven
Coach
Krystl is an Equestrian Canada Competition Coach, Senior Provincial Dressage Judge, and Western Style Dressage Association of Canada Judge. Krystl grew up with a pony club background strong in dressage. Competing through her teen years in the hunter and jumper arenas up to 3’9, she later turned to dressage. Krystl had the opportunity to ride and be mentored under Elaine Partington as well as clinicians including Dietrich Von Hopffgarten, Cindy Ishoy, Lee Tubman. She is currently working with Jenifer Parks. Krystl has also competed in the dressage arena since her childhood training several horses including her last partner Texas, to schooling PSG and showing 3rd level.
Krystl has over 20 years of teaching experience and likens dressage to physiotherapy for horses. She believing it can improve a horse’s long-term soundness and career. Krystl’s students have been successful in the competition ring including several championships and high score awards in the dressage ring over the last 8 years.
